Mr. Berns,

Your Uncle was most definately in Co. B, of the 9th MI Volunteer Infantry and apparently served the regiment well as he musters in as a private but musters out of the service as a First Sergeant, that would make him the highest ranking NCO in Company B. As for the XIV Corps, the 9th MI was attached to the headquarters of the XIV Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, from November, 1862 to February, 1864.
