Re: Early Loomis Battery uniforms

I wanted to review my copy of the Sep 1 1860 Detroit Free Press article and see the exact description they used for the Coldwater Light Artillery uniform. Sadly, the copy is not where it should be. I will need a few days to either find it or copy it again when I go to the State Library. How it reads may give a clue on the uniforms having red trim. Until I received the information on them having gray artillery uniforms in May of 1861 I was fairly sure the uniforms were without trim, but now I an less sure. The writer of the articles about the Jackson Encampment gave good uniform descriptions, however the Coldwater Light Artillery arrived a day late due to a railroad accident and the reporter may have been less detailed when he reported on the uniforms of two companies who arrived late. Let me get back to you on this.
