I have looked over additional information I have. The Loomis Battery did not depart with the 1st Infantry Regiment on May 13th due to “them having no uniforms”. By the 20th of May they were fully uniformed. They received their uniforms at the same time as the 2nd Infantry Regiment was receiving their uniforms. The 2nd Regiment received dark blue roundabouts and trousers both of which were the same as those of the 1st Regiment. On May 23, a news report said that because the State was out of dark blue material that the next two regiments would receive gray uniforms. I believe that the Loomis Battery received the same dark blue uniforms as issued to the 2nd Regiment. The two photographs of the 2nd Regiment and the two photographs of ‘The Loomis Battery seen to show identical uniforms. The State could have substituted dark gray cloth for the dark blue cloth, but if so there is no record of this.
