The Spotsylvania Court House info is what has been a hang-up for our investigation also.
The actual "Prisoner of War" memorandum states that Robert was captured at Athens Tenn on Sept. 19, 1863. Confined at Richmond Va. Sept. 29, 1863 and sent to Danville, Va Dec. 12, 1863. However, on one of the Muster Roll cards, it states that he died on Dec. 6, 1863 at Pitsylvania C.H. from camp fever. Why would he be sent to Danville after he died? Did that mean he ws sent to Danville for re-interrment, or just a mistake in the paperwork?
