Yes I'll be done with it today sometime. It will go over real big in our family that he deserted, however, the date on the letter is Jan. 13th 1864 written from George Town. The last battle mentioned was Summerville Ford, and went on towards the end of the letter about trading in the Spencer repeating rifle(seven shots) for the Spencer Carbine (nine shots) so he could shoot more rebs, sorry. Also I have a copy here of our family geneology and only show one other Chrles Milton Smith, his son, and nothing else. Don't know?
