There are 3 contemporary Kansas and Missouri newspapers that you can get on inter-library loan on microfilm. There's the Leavenworth Conservative, Kansas City journal of Commerce and another Leavenworth paper that I've forgotten the name of. They write about the pursuit of Price.

Also there's Hinton's Rebel Invasion of Missouri and Kansas, which has been reprinted.
