I have an article from the newspaper from 1996, that says: "Charles HOWARD and his brother Lt. L.H. (Hatchet) HOWARD were in the 6th KS. Cav. and were home on leave from battles in MO. and ARK. when Lt. L.H. was killed instantly by bushwhackers and Charles was wounded, he lived until 1895. L.H. is buried in the Howard Cemetery by his father Stephen." No other info on Charles W. The same raiders that killed L.H. minutes later killed Capt. John ROGERS also of the 6th and founder of Cato... I'd like to learn anything more about Charles and L.H. HOWARD. I believe L.H. was Leroy or Levi H. HOWARD.
