I found out a little bit you may already know. Your ancestors full name was:

John Stanley Rodgers, born on June 16, 1832 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Married Orpha McVey on October 30, 1851 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. Orpha McVey was born in 1831 in Alabama and died on June 10, 1887 in Logan County, Arkansas. John Stanley Rodgers died in 1864 in Logan County, Arkansas.

He was a son of Hugh McGary Rodgers, born March 15 or 16, 1800 in South Carolina, died in 1872 in Lee County, Mississippi. Hugh M. Rodgers married Serena Hartgrove (born in 1804 in Kentucky) on October 12, 1820 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Serena died before 1880.

This is the same person noted. There were two websites referring to this family but no luck in e-mailing either posting. They were:

http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/MSLEE/2001-08/0997156787 under the name MSLEE RO(D)GERS/HERRING/HARTGROVE.

and

http://www.wfnforum.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=821386395flb54481a48cb682ae60c1d&...

under the posting RODGERS Family Pedigrees, newmember kjwear.

Let me know if any of this is helpful.
