I know that about a dozen years ago when the Isley map surfaced it caused quite a stir in the community. I have since those days seen several journals from 2nd Colorado, especially 3rd Wisconsin and the 2nd Kansas talk about Fort Lincoln. Because of its out of the way location it is a certainty that it was used as you suggest. I seem to recall some executions taking place there, which brings to mind where is the grave yard? I had thought back then that the state had annexed the land under the Artifact preservation laws. I further understand that the location was fairly accurately pinpointed by the well that Isley showed on the map. Since those days I haven't given Ft. Lincoln much thought. Has anyone found the post returns or Prov Records?
