Unfortunately haven't found much documentation concerning the murder charge. I know it took place in Ft Scott area, but a review of the period newspapers failed to turn up any mention of his trial. The only document to date I have is from the Ks State Penitentary which states he was convicted 9 Oct 1867 of 2nd degree murder; received at prison 23 Oct 67 with a 16 yr sentance, but pardoned 4 Jan 1871.

Somewhere in my misc notes on 6th Ks Cav which I'll start going through after I finish transcribing the AG report and some documents I got from KSHS, mentions the name of the victims brother which may lead me to further info.
