I've looked at the Ft Scott newspaper for the time period and didn't find anything of assistance. I'll have to try the Leavenworth papers since it appears the majority of the early enlistees were residents of Leavenworth. Hopefully in a week's time I'll be able to look at the regimental book for Dec 61 at Ft Scott Historic Site and learn something. From the photocopy(a partial) of the regimental return for Dec 61 there is no Co'G' listed-this makes sense since CPT A.W.J. Brown and 40 odd men were transferred to 8th Ks during month(hopefully the orderbook will provide an exact date.

I'm now currently transcribing the AG report info for Mefford's Co'H' into my roster which already includes the info from the regimental descriptive roll. I've got to figure out what organization several soldiers belonged to who had Nov & Dec 61 enlistments since Mefford's company wasn't organized until Feb 62. Also I'm intrigued by the large number of desertions from the company in the Jun 62 time frame-I'm wondering what percipitated them.
