Perry, I have was wondering if you have been in contact with anyone who plans on writing a book on the 12th Indiana. I just sent Eric Lowman an email and asked him the same question. My great uncle was Thomas Stewart. He was born in Quebec, Canada of Irish parents. He was captured at Atlanta and sent to Andersonville where he was reported to have died. But we found out that he was sent to Florence, S.C. and died there as a POW. I have inherited his personal possessions, which have been on exhibit at the Carter House Museum in Franklin, TN. His Bible, photograph, boot knife, telescope, magnifying glass, and a box that contains lock of his hair, and pieces of material which have been thought to be pieces of a Union flag. All these items should be recorded and I hope someday placed in a well written book about the 12th.i If there is anyone who plans to do this, I will photograph everything and get it to them, in hopes his memory will be preserved. Thank you.
