Mary, I'm not sure the Ohio James Bone is the same. Sometimes it helps look in other places. I am sure you are familiar with Cumberland Furnace. On an Anthony Wayne Van Leer site,he owned the furnance, it states ,"During the Civil War Union soldiers burned property, including homes, of Dickson CO.residents that would not sign an oath of allegiance."This started as early as 1862. The furnace was not destroyed however. Mr.Van Leer's granddaughter married a Union officer in 1864. This backs up that there was a heavy Union presence in the area early on in the war. I would look for a record if James signed an oath of allegiance to the Federal Gov..If not maybe he was arrested and taken north.I had mentioned before the Provost of the area, military police, I believe fell under the Dept. of the Cumberland. You might check this out.
