109th Regiment, Illinois Infantry

Organized at Camp Anna, Ill., and mustered in September 11, 1862. Moved to Columbus, Ky., October 20-25, 1862; thence to Bolivar, Tenn. Attached to District of Jackson, Tenn., 13th Army Corps (Old), Department of the Tennessee, to December, 1862. District of Jackson, 16th Army Corps, to January, 1863. District of Memphis, Tenn., 16th Army Corps, to April, 1863.

SERVICE.-Grant's Central Mississippi Campaign November, 1862, to January, 1863. At Memphis till March, 1863. Moved to Lake Providence, La. Regiment disbanded April 10, 1863, having lost 237 by desertion and officers (excepting those of Company "K") having proved themselves utterly incompetent. Company "K" transferred to 11th Illinois Infantry.

Regiment lost by disease 2 Officers and 92 Enlisted men during its service.

Maybe someone can tell us where Camp Anna was and from what counties they recruited.
