John J. Jones

Hi folks!

I'm seeking information on my father's grand-father, John J. Jones (b. 27 Nov 1819, Bodedern Parish, Anglesey, Wales; d. 1891) who married Almira Elizabeth Warren (b. 1836, Ohio; d. 1905, Comanche County, Indian Terr.) and was the father of Thomas Hiram Reese Jones (b. 1870, Burlington, Des Moines Co.); John J. Jones was the son of John Enoch Jones (b. 29 Jan 1783, Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales) and Margaret Prichard (b. 15 May 1790, Amlwch Parish, Anglesey, Wales).

The USSSS lists John J. Joneses in the 2nd Iowa Infantry and the 21st Iowa Infantry. My superficial research shows men from Des Moines County served in the 7th and 14th Regiments of Iowa Infantry.

I'm not asking anyone to do my work, but I am seeking guidance on where to go next. Geeminy Christmas! There's a LOT of Iowa units out there.

[I was fortunate to find a biographical sketch of my father's mother's father -- Sergeant James M. Scott, 3rd Indiana Artillery, wounded at Battle of Lone Jack, then commissioned Lt. in the 22nd Indiana Artillery but resigned because of wounds in 1863. Oh that it would be that simple for the other grand-father!!!)

Thanks!

Ralph
