That is some interesting history. My ancestor, Pvt. Hiram Abiff Willson, served in Co. K, 27th TX Cavalry and was captured at the Battle of Hatchies Bridge in October 1862. This is the first time I ever heard that some members of his company served under Forrest at Ft. Donelson. Wonder how that came to be.
