Re: Texans may have been captured at Fort Donelson

As we know, most of the enlisted and NCO's captured at Fort Donelson were sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago. My research on Col Mulligan's Irish Brigade (23rd Regiment Illinois Vol Infantry) showed that three men from Texas regiments enlisted in Mulligan's Irish Brigade. This comes from a list of Confederate POWs who enlisted in Federal units. They included: Pvt S.C. Cole, Co. I 2nd Texas; Fifer August Feller, 7th Texas; Pvt S.M. Williams, Co B, 7th Texas. There were a few other men men from the 2nd and 7th Texas who also enlisted in Federal service in unspecified units. There is also a listing for Powell Jessie [perhaps Jessie Powell] from Co. H, 7th Texas who enlisted and who is listed as "colored."
