An error

I can't believe I made such a huge error! Of course there were Texas units at Fort Donelson and the park historian must be thinking if he reads this WHAT? What I should have said that there is no known Texas units of Forrest's command that were captured at Fort Donelson. The 23rd Texas Cavalry (Gould's) (also known as the 27th) Regiment Texas Cavalry completed its organization about October 25, 1862 (after the Dix-Hill Cartel) ten companies, A to K. Company K had previously served as (1st) Company D, 3rd (Forrest's) Regiment Tennessee Cavarly. Company D, 3rd Forrest's Regiment of Tennessee Cavarly was formed in Clarkesville, Texas (Red River County) It was elements from this Company that were captured at Fort Donelson, TN. It's officers were taken to Camp Chase and the enlisted taken to Camp Douglas. No officers were recorded as dying at Camp Chase with Company D, however I do not know about enlisted deaths if any that may have occured at Camp Douglas. It may very well be argued that these Texans that were under Forrest were with the Tennessee Cavarly and they were. My point is to recognize those being with Company D 3rd Forrest's Regiment of Tennessee Cavarly as being from Texas.
