Steve, my English correspondent has just sent me a couple more newspaper articles, which seem to indicate that Elizabeth Taylor had a much closer association with the Confederate service than was previously assumed, although still not indicative of actual Naval service. One article states, in part, "During the American war she served on one of the blockade runners, and at the conclusion of the war she went from Liverpool to Warrington," and the other article states, in part, "She commenced to wear male attire thirteen years ago, was employed as a sailor during the American war, and made several trips from South Wales to the American coast, in order to supply the ALABAMA and blockade runners with coal."
I still will not accept her as being in Confederate service until more conclusive evidence is supplied, but I still think she led a very interesting career during the Civil War.
