Re: Female in the Confederate Navy?

Dale, I had passed on the details I found to three gentlemen in England, who have an interest in the Civil War veterans buried there, as well as a gentleman in the United States, and yesterday, one of those gentlemen in the U.K. was able to obtain more data on Elizabeth Taylor/Happy Ned. A researcher at one of the archives there had been doing much research on Taylor, and has actually written an article on her, which article was passed on to us. Unfortunately, it was found that Taylor had not actually served in either Navy during the war, but had been a sailor (in disguise as a male) aboard one of the English vessels delivering coal to the Union blockading vessels during the war. She served under the name of "Ned Davies" and is buried near Warrington, in England. Despite the fact that she was not actually in service in the Navies, my English correspondents have decided to accept her as a veteran of the war.
