Re: Female NOT in the Navy

Steve, I myself was rather disappointed that she turned out NOT to have served in the Civil War, in a military sense, so have not accepted her as being a Civil War veteran. However, the gentleman from England, who indicated that they were accepting her as a veteran of the Civil War, also knows that she was NOT a veteran in the military, but I will not attempt to point out that she definitely is not a Civil War veteran to all of them, and leave it up to them, as is. It is their own chosen path, as such.
Besides, they are not the first ones whom I know to try and accept a person as a Civil War veteran, even if they were not in the military. I know of one person, residing in Brisbane, here in Australia, who has named about a dozen persons as being in the Civil War (on his very inaccurate web site), even though they were never in the military during the war. He has even tried to indicate that a person who was on board a whaler, far from America, during the entire war, was a veteran. I cannot change their mindsets, so I prefer to just leave it at that. Unfortunately, due to such persons, we are getting so much that is false, on the Internet.
