The CSS Shenandoah never saw CS soil. The orginal crew were British seamen, not of the Royal Navy but recruited off the docks and other ships in port. The Shenandoah left England with a skelenton crew. Eventually the crew was supplimented by crews of prize ships. Therefore, the uniform of the day was what the sailors had on there back. A good book to read about the CSS Shenandoah is: "Last Flag Down." The book describes the daily lives, adventures, and capturing of prize ships.
