Re: Confederate States Navy Uniforms

If you go to the MAKING OF AMERICA web site (the University of Michigan site, and not the other one), and type in the phrase "Confederate Navy uniforms" or some alternate form of the same phrase, you will find mention of the uniforms supplied to the CSN (from England) in one or more of the ALABAMA CLAIMS volumes. I do recall reading something about it in those wolumes, but cannot recall which volume exactly. I have the printouts somewhere in my collections, but most of these are still packed away, after a recent move.
Additionally, there was also a web site, some years ago, titled the CIVIL WAR AND THE CONFEDERACY: THE BUSINESS RECORDS OF FRASER, TRENHOLM & COMPANY OF LIVERPOOL AND CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA, 1860 - 1877, FROM THE MERSEYSIDE MARITIME MUSEUM, LIVERPOOL: A LISTING AND GUIDE TO THE MICROFILM EDITION, which may have some documentation on the subject you are interested in. The web site was at http://www.adam-matthew-publications.co.uk/GUIDES/G010.HTM but I do not know if it is still online. I did make copies of the 19 pages, which includes detailed listings of the documents and other items in this collection, and it would be of major interest in such a study.
Hope this helps.
