This does help in authenticating that preparation methode for the Navy ration had changed over the years. The listing of individual ingredients instead of such titles as "Spotted Dog" or Duff" may mean that the individual messes may have eaten foods either stewed or roasted rather than boiked in a common pot of water in canvas bags as in teh earlier Navy. Still much to be learned concerning early food preparation in the naval service.
