For those interested:

George Valentine, of Ritchie County, [West] Virginia was imprisoned for being a “Secessionist”. Prisoner-of-war records indicate that Valentine, a “citizen” prisoner, was captured in Raleigh County, [West] Virginia [date not given] and died at Camp Chase on June 3, 1862 [cause of death not stated]. Valentine appears on the 1850 Census of Ritchie County, age 44, farmer, born in Maryland. His son, Harrison, served in the 6th West Virginia Infantry.
