Hello Barbara,

Your soldier appears on 5 different POW records as

These records are known as Selected Records of the War Department Relating to Confederate Prisoners of War, 1861-1865.

Roll: M598_11 lists him as a "conscript" who died on February 6 of "febris typhoides" at "Cp Douglas, Ill."

Roll: M598_26 "List of Prisoners Transferred to Cairo, Ill. for exchange by Capt Wm. Hoffman in Charge" dated Dec. 24th 1862 says: "Va Rangers or Guerrilla"

Roll: M598_25 "Prisoners received from Wheeling, Va." "Virginia Rangers or Guerrilla, November 27, Greenbrier, Age 37, 5'11", Blue eyes, Black hair, Dark Complexion."

Roll: M598_24 Roll of Prisoners of War at Camp Chase Received during December 1862" Martin Frame and Alfred H. Frame are listed as members of the 14th Va Cavalry. Lewelleyn is still listed as "Va Ranger or Guerrilla" There are 13 members of the 14th Cav on this list who were captured on November 27th.

Roll: M598_29 is an undated roll. Frame's name is crossed out.

These records should be in the Compiled Service Record, but often some are omitted. These records can be seen at Civil War Prisoner of War Records, 1861-1865 on Ancestry.com. They will make a nice supplement to the Compiled Service Record you can obtain at:
