You had me worried for a moment... But I double-checked the Monroe County GENWEB site. There is, and has been a Washington Township there since at least 1832... and it is so recorded in the census records available on that site. It is next to Franklin Township, where Dan Todd lived. There was enough referance to it (and not nearby Washington County) in my research that I thought it important to question. The children did live in adjacent Noble County, which did not have a known township by said name. I would not have been surprised if there were... owing to my understanding that it is one of the more common names for the entire U.S. States in honor of our first president.
