I most likely provided the information on the Zouave web site. A company of youths (in this period this could children 10-16 or even teens from 16-21) was forming in February 1862 as the Marshall Zouaves. I have only one note on this company and they probably did not last long. Sadly the 1st page of my notes are missing so I do not have the name of the newspaper just the date, February 6 1862. This likely came from either the Marshall Statesman or the Marshall Democratic Expounder as I did researched in both. For the City of Marshall I have the Marshall Light Infantry becoming the Marshall Douglas Guard. Can you confirm this? I also list the Marshall Light Guard as a separate company.
