Alleghany, enlisted March 31, 1864, died June 6, 1871, Baltimore, Md., Consumption, allowed pension of $8 per month commencing June 6, 1871, children Silas P. & Leacatia

Silas W. Harrington, Yeoman, was appointed a Yeoman March 19, 1868 "New Hampshire"

Silas W. Harrington, Private, born in U. S., State of Maryland, County of Baltimore, Town of Baltimore, enlisted 31 March 1864 at Batlitmore, Md. for 4 years by Capt. Collier, aged 19 years, 5' 11", hazel eyes, black hair, fair complexion, Clerk transfered to Washington D.C., 31s t March 1864, transferred to U. S. S. Augusta, 21 May 1864 . . . . . . discharged 22 Aug. 1866 at Washington, D.C.

A certificate of physical examination at U. S. Naval Rendezous, Balto., Augt 24, 1869 indicates him as a native of New Orleans, La., age 23, 5' 11-1/2", chest measure 31 in.

A Bureau of Medicine and Surgery dated Washington, Nov. 11, 1879 refers to the disability of Silas W. Harrington, Pr. Marine, U. S. S. Navy .......... he was under tratment ...... at the Marine Barracks, Wash., for gonorrhoea 1865 . . .

There appears to be a picture of him on Card #38 of his file

Served as Corporal of the Marine Guard of the U. S. S. Augusta, in the years 1864-65 and when that vessel was put out of commission, was transferred to the U. S. S. Allegeny or some other man of war, then - Dec. 2864 or Jan'y 1865 lying in the harbor of Baltimore

I did not review all of the 102 cards in his file which provide significant information on his service.
