Re: 2nd Indian Home Guard
In Response To: 2nd Indian Home Guard ()

Hello,

I am not sure that the following URL is correct: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ewyatt/Indian%20Home%20Guard/L.html

However, if it is, whoever compiled the data lists on the "L" roster one "Lennox, Thomas G." with a wife named "Jennie."

My gr-grandfather, Thomas G. Lennox (or Lenox), wife named Jennie, DID serve in the Union army---Co. F, 21st Ohio Volunteer Infantry---AFTER joining some Confederate unit (don't know which) in Alabama (where he lived) and then deserting.

If you know, please share with me how Thomas G. Lenox, wife named Jennie, came to be posted as a member of the Indian Home Guard attached to Kansas units.

My gr-grandmother, Jennie Lennox (Lenox), did move to near Haskell, OK (Stone Bluff) circa 1915 upon Thomas G. Lennox's death in 1910, and she DID receive a Union pension while living there. Also, around 1890-1900 my Thomas G. Lennox lived in and around Choctaw Co., OK.

IF there IS a Thomas G. Lennox in the Indian Home Guard (2nd Regiment or 1st or 3rd) perhaps whoever posted the data, showing wife of "Jennie," accidentally picked up my Thomas G.

By the way, I do have my Thomas G. Lennox's Civil War Service records and Pension records, and there is no mention of serving in the Indian Home Guard.

Nevertheless, I am intrigued by this "coincidence" (if such is the case) OR (should such prove to be the case) would be fascinated to find that my Thomas G. Lennox actually served in the INdian Home Guard.

Please let me know if you can shed any light on this subject. I would be SO grateful!!!!

Cliff Jackson
