Re: Thomas Moonlight as cavalier

If anyone was nonchalant or apathetic about his professional military duties it certainly wasn’t Tom Moonlight. Moonlight was a former NCO in the regular army, and as a volunteer army officer performed his duties in a no-nonsense manner. Much like a drill sergeant, he could be hardheaded, but make no mistake; he was one of the few “professionals” in the Army of the Frontier. A former wagon master for the Army of the Frontier stated in the 1880's that everyone knew Moonlight was the “brains” behind Major General James G. Blunt. Although I am a great devotee of General Blunt you must give credit where credit is due. Terry is simply wrong in his tentative assumptions.
