Co. "B" 2nd Kansas Cavalry

I hope someone can give me some answers that I have been unable to find on my own.
My GGGgrandfather, George Simington fought for the Union in the Civil War. He lived in Wayne Co., Illinois & enrolled in the Union Army at Albion, Illinois. Mustered into service Oct 1, 1861 at Fort Levensworth Kansas into Co. “B” 2nd Kansas Cavalry (later the 3rd Kansas Battery Light Artillery). He died of diarrhea & rheumatism, contracted from exposure in January 1863 at Maysville, Arkansas. He died in the hospital in Neosho, Missouri on March 19, 1863. My questions are these: Where would he have been buried if he died in an army hospital in Neosho, Mo.? Would his grave have been marked? This information is not in the widow’s pension papers that I have. Did this hospital in Neosho have a name besides General Hospital? Also, why would he have joined a Kansas unit if he lived and signed up in Illinois?
