Howard, thanks so much for the information. The widow’s pension papers that I have do not say where he was buried. I didn’t know if they buried soldiers at local cemeteries where they were when they died or shipped them home. I’ll have to do some letter writing and see if I can find his grave at one of the National Cemeteries. I would be interested in any details from the diary that you have access to. Since looking into George’s military service I find I am being more and more interested in the Civil War, a subject that I’ve never given much though to until now.
