Re: COL R.H. Graham, 8th KS Infantry

There is a lot of information out there on the 8th. Your best bet is the "Official Military History of Kansas Regiments During The War For The Suppression Of The Great Rebellion." The book was put together by W. S. Burke. There was a lot of reorganization of the 8th in the early months of 1862. Burke says "the Eighth was consolidated with a battalion raised for service in New Mexico, and Colonel R. H. Graham, of the latter, was assigned to the command." In June 1862, as the regiment moved east, "Colonel Graham was taken sick at St. Louis, and left the regiment at that place, turning over command to LTC Martin. He never afterwards rejoined it, as he continued sick until his death, which occurred in October of the same year." Do you have any letters or diaries related to Col. Graham?
