Gary and Donald..... I was elated to see a descendent of the Hairgrove family (as well as the Reed/Read family)?

Gary.. have you researched William Hairgrove's experiences in the 3rd Kansas Volunteers, Lane's Kansas Brigade.

On the Third Regiment muster rolls is listed:

Company G, Infantry Company - Private William Hairgrove, Blooming Grove, Enlisted July 23, 1861, transferred to Company D, 10th Kansas Vol. Infantry date of consolidation. Captain Eli Snyder, Osawatomie, was the captain.

Company D, 10th Kansas Infantry, William Hairgrove was discharged for disability at Fort Scott, Kansas on August 12, 1862.
