Re: Chaplain Benjamin L. Read, 15th Kansas Cavalry

This is most certainly the same person, although Rev. Read/Reed was living in Osawatomie Township, Lykins County (would later become Miami County), Kansas in 1860 until his death in 1890.
Rev. Read/Reed did live by my 3rd great-grandfather William Hairgrove in Linn County (near the Trading Post) at the time of the Marais des Cygnes Massacre and was one of the wounded as was my William. The Rev. Read/Reed was a native of Connecticut.

The Rev. went by the names of;
1) B. L. Reed (1880 federal census for Osawatomie Township, Miami County, Kansas)

2) B. L. Read (A Standard History of Kansas and Kansans
written and compiled by William E. Connelley, Ch. 37 Pt. 1)

3) Benjamin L. Read (1860 federal census for Osawatomie Township, Lykins County, Kansas)

4) Bryon L. Reed (1870 federal census for Osawatomie Township, Miami County, Kansas)
