Dear Sir,

I am astonished to read, at last, information regarding C.W. Brouse. I have been seeking such for years. You see, he is an ancestor of mine, on my Mothers side. His oval photo hung in my Grandparents house in Elyria, Ohio all of my life. That photo, his Officers sword, and a hand carved walking stick are still in my families possession. The story goes that the walking stick, which is carved from a root apparently, was presented to him by one of his men after the war. The head of the cane is carved with the likeness of a mans head which I presume to be C.W. and in relief up and down the length of the cane are carved the names of Generals and battles that the 100th were involved in, an impressive list I must say. While the metal tip of the cane has been lost, the cane itself remains in absolutely pristine condition, as does his sword.

If these items are of interest to you, I could supply digital images of same. Of course, any further information about the unit or C.W. would interest me greatly.

Best Regards and Thank You!
Bob Crosby
