Eric,
Thank you for the roster, Indiana was the last hope for finding my Great Grandfather.
Joseph died in 1919 in Lansing, Michigan. He is buried at Mt Hope Cemetary, at the Helmic family plot. His wife and son (my grandfather)are also there as are several other family members. My brother has been trying to track Joseph down for 30 years. We have an old newspaper photo of my aunt Peg, Joseph's grand daughter, unveiling a statue at the State Capitol back in the 1920's. She was given this honor because her grandfather fought in the Civil War. We always assumed that Joseph fought with a Michigan regiment, but we could find his name on any roster. This really means a lot to our family just to know what regiment and company he fought with.
Thank you
Michael Helmic
