Namcy:

In my research I have found that the 10th was located in and around Pulaski, Tn. Most of there duty was to guard the rail line from Columbia,Tn down to Athens,Al. During its service in the fall of 1864, they were kept busy keeping Raiders such as Wheeler and Roddy at bay. In late September, they had a run in with General Forrest and then had to deal with Hoods entry into Tennessee in November. After the battle of Franklin in November, there were placed in the command of General Wilson. At the battle of Nashville, they were involved in chasing Hood and what was left of the Army of Tennessee back to northern Alabama an Mississippi.

There is some information, letters, etc located in the Indiana Historical Society and the Indiana State Library. There is a group called something like survivors of the Sultana. They hold a meeting once a year. It is possible that some of these people have letters etc. If you should wish to contact me, do so through the webmaster, Jim Martin
