My sister and I recently discovered the grave of a family civil war vet, Enoch Francis Asbury Coddington. Family has been searching for him for over 50 years. We had his stone restored. The grave is in an obscure, inactive cemetery in Liberty, Indiana. He enlisted in Richmond. He contracted the measles and was sent home, where he died. The gravestone itself was laying under another lost family member. When we went to show the man who restored the stones where it was. The top stone (that of a 2 1/2 year old) had a flag putb on it that was not there before. Somebody knew that the soldier should have been there.
Since I believe that at least one other soldier of the Civil war is supposed to be buried in that cemetery, and no other flag was in the cemetery, it is a mystery who and why and how they knew. I've been trying to get in touch with the Liberty American Legion to ask about it, but no one answers the listed phone number. Pat Rueth
