Joe, The 44IL.Inf was brigaded up with the 36IL.Inf. .I believe at Pea Ridge and then in the Corinth arena .I have a field map drawn by my GGGrandfather showing the Works and 44th position at Reinzi MS. June of 1862.I don't have letters but, might be something in the 36IL.Inf Regimental History I own. I haven't read in a long time.It might be a google book by now.Col.Osterhaus led the mainly German Division at Pea Ridge.Let me know if I can help.
