I am a published author interested in the 44th Illinois Infantry. I currently have some letters written by several Germans in the regiment in 1861 and 1862. I have translated them into English. I am looking for other letters from men (any nationality) in that regiment to translate and or edit (if in English). If I can locate a sufficient number of quality letters from soldiers of the 44th I plan to prepare a manuscript for publication. Three of my books of Civil War letters have been published and a fourth will be released in 2013. If you have or know of anty letters please contact me.
