Gavin,I would find it odd he was killed on July 25,1862 as the fighting in this campaign was over by the June 10,1862 having chased the retreating Confederates to Booneville,MS. and fell back to Reinzi on the Mobile&Ohio R.R..Pretty much idol, picket and drills till Sept 19 Battle of Iuka.Surgeon would be treating men at Corinth in my opinion. He would most likely be a Lt. if A.A.Surgeon.It could be possible he was wounded in the advance on on Corinth May 30-June 10 as the 57th was involved and died from wounds July 25,1862.Infection a slow killer. The 57th was in Baldwins Brigade under Gen T.A.Davies Division. He might be listed on the Staff of either the Div. or Brigade and is why you can't find in the 57IL.Inf.Regiment.I reciently lost my bookmarks in a recient computer crash. Let me see.
