Boulware's Wharf

Terry:

Drive down Route 5 from Richmond and keep right on Route 895 (called Osborne Turnpike on my highway map). At the point where it turns 90 degrees left & becomes Kingsland Road, go straight ahead down a subdivision road. Should be a state highway marker at some point indicating this was "the exchange point". This was Boulware's Wharf. Cox's Wharf was just below Fort Brady as you have found. The POWs were walked, or hauled by wagon through the Union lines which extended from Fort Harrison down to Fort Brady between the two points. Technical delivery took place in the "no man's land" around Boulware's Wharf.

Send me an e-mail at society@fortdelaware.org and I will send you a copy of an article that I wrote on this subject including a map.
