Re: A story about one of the dead at Camp Chase

Hello George,

"It appears that they did not serve at Camp Chase at the same time. "

Actually I suspect they may have been for a short time. Gresham was at Camp Chase Nov.21-Jan.9,1864. The 128th.OVI was organized at Camp Chase,Columbus,Ohio, for the purpose of forming a guard regiment for the Johnson's Island Prison and mustered into service by companies during December,1863 and Jan,1864. Recollect that Goff enlisted Dec.15,1863. Certainly as Dennis speculated earlier the Ohians would have been given some,"On the job training."

The surviviving portian of Camp Chase with the CSA tombstones was very well cared for the last time I was there in 2000 or so.
