Re: A story about one of the dead at Camp Chase

It is fascinating to think of having a guard and prisoner GF at the same prison. Certainly the place was large but you naturaly wonder If they might have had any type of personal interaction or confrontation. Now they wern't related yet. That would come after the war thru their children's marriage. But both the grandfathers did live long enuff to perhaps discuss their time at the prison on opposit sides of the wall.

Sgt. Goff would later have an interesting career in the war. In a few months he would pass an examination at Louisville,Ky. and become a 2nd Lt. in the 107th.USCI. The unit was at Petersburg,Ft.Fisher and the final Carolinas Campaign. He named his daughter Flotilla. Most likely named after that very impressive fleet of General Butlers off Wilmington he was a passenger in.

Chaplain Gresham was with Logan's Cavalry brigrade that wiped out the black troops at Jackson,Louisiana in August of 63.

Im sure those GFs had some very interesting post war conversations.
