I found out today that my grt grt grandfather may have been a POW held by the CSA. Family history says something like. He faught at Gettysburg and either at that time or shortly there after he was taken prisner. Using a 'wooden spoon' he dug his way out of the camp and made his way back to PA. Of course any and all documentation that the family had was lost in a fire along with his uniform and the' wooden spoon' he used to dig out.
So I was wondering if there is a listing of the men held and where they were from as POW's somewhere( perferable not by camp because the camp is unknown) that one could go through and confirm or debunk this family history.
