Re: Captain Semmes commanded DIANA, April, 1863.

Hello, Terry- I find no reference to the Confederate commander in charge of the Diana when she was fired, along with the Hart 4/17/63, after a running battle of fifty miles moving upstream from Berwick's Bay
The Queen of the West under a Captain Fuller was also lost in this engagement. (Mention of casualties due to boiler being holed and twenty six men scalded.)
I doubt Raphael Semmes was involved. No mention of this in Maj. Gen. Banks report.
There was mention of the Federals ability, due to this action, to "stretch" a telegraphic cable that put New Orleans in communication with points east. No doubt useful for them.
Where is Semmes cited in ORN?
