You may find that the most useful sources for the CSS Shenandoah are on the other side of the big pond.

She was built by Alexander Stephen as the auxiliary steamer "SEA KING", and I believe the great majority of Stephens original ship drawings are held in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, not far from London. They have an excellent (thougb not inexpensive) research and copy service

An unrigged model of SEA KING is (or was) at the Science Museum in Kensington, London.

Another source for drawings was David R MacGregor the well known author and draftsman. Mr MacGregor must be getting on in years and I understand that his plans are not reliably available. However there are small scale plans for Sea King in his book "Fast Sailing Ships" which shoul be available through a library service or on the second hand market.

What's more difficult is her likely appearance as a raider - since she was refiited at sea, it's unlikely that any drawings or sketches were ever made. Photos might help in determining how her guns were placed, but I know of very few illustrations of the ship. I would suggest you look to Australian sources for some information - the ship was a celebrated visitor to Melbourne and a ball was given for her officers at Ballarat. Hopefully some photos may survive from this visit.

Hope this helps
