I've been looking over a partial crew roster trying to figure out the engineering department assignments. The list would have broken down to two or three watches based on numbers. As near as I can figure the boiler room gang would be coal haulers and firemen with an asst. eng. supervisor. The engines seem to have Asst engineers in two grades with a 1st Asst Engineer acting as Chief Engineer. What I'm still trying to figure out is how many firemen per watch. I don't know whether they assigned one per boiler or one per ? We seem to be talking about four boilers. Haven't a clue about how many coal heavers per watch per boiler.
